Oh, For Heaven's Sake.

I would like for to have a stable mood sometime this week. Of course, one can only blame PMS for but so much when one keeps reading about adoption woes (like this) and the particularly heart-wrenching parts of parenting (see here, but don't say I didn't warn you), or watching thought-provoking movies about those we usually pay little heed.

Click, read, watch, but prepare to be all thinky afterward. And possibly have chocolate on standby.

Wherein I love the Internets

Y'all, the tubes have massively entertained me for the past week. I've been a bad blogger, though, and Real Life has been distracting, so I'll highlight the entertainment with the two links I've still got open in tabs.

First off, Potter Dorks, we have My 'Crux. Why yes, it is a filk of "My Humps" that pays homage to Voldemort's Horcruxes. Why yes, it is hilarious.

Second, comics dorks, The infamous Mary Jane statue, and Adam Hughes's response to those crazy feminists. Now normally I'd be one of those crazy feminists, but the most entertaining thing for me is that anyone's taking this shitty art seriously. Because I do believe that someone actually sculpted her over their long-lost Gumby Doll, after stretching it out quite a bit. I get that showing hipbone is considered sexy these days, but if she were human-sized those bad boys would be a good four inches above the waistline of her pants, which would have to rise to somewhere near the middle of her ass to achieve the effect. Or else she's got a severely enlarged pelvis that comes to somewhere near the middle of her tummy.

The art is bad. Yes, there are plenty of problematic gender issues to be discussed here, and Hughes acts like a complete douche in his response to them, but I can't seem to make it past the basic badness. Come, fly away with me on my giant flapping pelvis!

Possibly it's time for bed now.

Inconclusive

Am totally PMSing, so chocolate's still ranking pretty high, but Monday night was pretty awesome. Further study clearly necessary.

Most of my personal babble is now under lock and key elsewhere due to ass haberdashery here. Sorry, y'all. I knew you wanted to hear me make vague, lascivious comments, but you'll have to settle for the usual link dumps and pseudo-witty anecdotes unless you know where else to find me. And how to obtain access.

Mwahahahahaha.

That much self-importance just begged for an evil laugh.

Chocolate vs. Kissing: Rematch

Things continue to go swimmingly in Work Land. Friend Land has also been awesome, with friends getting me hooked on Six Feet Under and sending me pictures of blinking, robotic Godzilla toys (it's a prop for an upcoming production; it is also now tiled on the desktop of my work computer). The past 24 hours have been wicked, and promise only to get better, because I intend to conduct empirical research as to whether kissing or chocolate creates the better high.

Happy Girl

Just a brief "life is sweet." Tuesday was awesome. I'm still me, which means it's still hard to grok that it's OK to be this happy without being scared that something else awful is going to happen to ruin it. I've got a good job, friends who are acquainted with honesty, pastimes about which I'm passionate, and a whole boatload of potential that frankly seemed nowhere to be found three months ago. I'm actually starting to look forward to moving into my own place at the end of the summer, rather than fearing the added stress.

Sometimes I just have to stop and think, oh, THIS is what it feels like to be excited about life. Because y'all, I had seriously forgotten.

OK, Even The Cats Are Doing It

I've recently discovered that most of my life, both physically and metaphorically, has been taken over by theater: references, in-jokes, turns of phrase, complete lack of sleep... it's like I'm nineteen again.

And now a bunch of cats will make my point for me. Two of my favorite things in one place! It's like christmas and my birthday all rolled up in a bundle of fluffy, Shakespearean goodness.

Twenty Thousand

Dude. My 20,000th visitor surfed in looking for ninja turtle porn. How... apt.

Also, there have been Developments. And they are Rather Happy. Also Unexpected. And full of Random Capitalization.

Beautiful Men Will Be the Death of Me

Why no, I am not at all distracted.  Surely it takes more than a little snogging for that, right?
Right?
...
OK, maybe not.
